A behind-the-scenes video from Southern’s first spring practice offered an early look at the Marshall Faulk era — one built on structure, competition, and brotherhood.

“This is how we’re going to win,” Faulk told players in a huddle to open the Jaguars’ first spring practice, captured in a behind-the-scenes YouTube video posted by Faulk Media. “We’re going to win with these guys right here. This is the brotherhood right here.”

Under clear skies and the crackle of energy that always marks a new era, Faulk’s approach mixed intensity with accountability. His staff pushed the players through early drills while demanding both structure and communication. “It’s all the way structure,” one coach reminded the team, setting a tone that emphasized preparation and organization over flash.

For Faulk — the Pro Football Hall of Famer taking on his first college head coaching job — the atmosphere was equal parts instructional and inspirational. The video captured Faulk moving between groups, reinforcing fundamentals and challenging players to “stack good days” with each session.

“Every day we come out here, we’re trying to get better,” Faulk said during a mid-practice huddle. “We’re stacking good day after good day. When the time comes to line up, you’ll be ready. That’s what this is about — competing and making each other better.”

The energy ramped up in closing moments when Faulk announced that the defense had edged the offense in the day’s competition drill — and with it came the kind of accountability he aims to instill in the locker room.

“Defense won today,” he shouted as players clapped for their teammates. “That means offense, y’all got to run!”

Laughter broke the tension, but the lesson remained clear: competition is constant, and accountability runs in both directions.

As Faulk’s first spring as head coach unfolds, the new era at Southern appears grounded in a simple but powerful equation — discipline, competition, and brotherhood.

“This is the brotherhood,” Faulk told his team again. “Every time you take the field, you’ve got to get better. That’s how we win.”
