Winning at the last second was so fun for Morgan State this past Saturday, they decided to do it again Monday night.
Alfred Worrell Jr.‘s jumper with 2 seconds left capped a 33-point night and lifted the Bears to a 79-78 win at defending MEAC champion Norfolk State.
The Bears have won each of their last three conference games by a single point – all on the road – to improve to 4-2 in MEAC play and 8-13 overall.
Morgan State held a 33-25 lead before Norfolk State outscored them 17-3 in the final six-plus minutes of the first half to take 42-36 advantage into halftime.
The Spartans (10-13, 3-3 MEAC) led by double digits on three separate occasions in the second half, but Morgan State stayed close and with time running out, Worrell knocked down a jumper to give the Bears the lead.
Anthony McComb III’s last second attempt was off the mark and Norfolk State joined Howard and Delaware State as teams defeated at home by one point by the Cardiac Bears.
