The Winston-Salem State University women’s basketball team continued its red-hot run Thursday night, earning its 15th straight victory with a 64–54 win over Shaw University inside Spaulding Gymnasium.
The Rams improved to 15–1 overall, 6–0 in CIAA play, and 1–0 in the Southern Division, maintaining their position atop the conference standings.
Makayla Waleed powered WSSU with 23 points and nine rebounds, while Nevaeh Farmer and Breonna Roaf added eight points apiece.
The Rams forced 29 turnovers, converting them into 33 points, and scored 38 points in the paint. They shot 35 percent from the floor (23-of-66) and 71 percent from the line (15-of-21), while collecting 17 steals and 36 rebounds.

WSSU came out strong, opening with a 10–2 lead highlighted by Farmer’s three-pointer and taking a 12–5 advantage after one quarter. Shaw briefly pulled ahead 20–19 in the second, but the Rams closed the half on an 11–1 run to lead 30–21 at the break.
After building a double-digit advantage in the third quarter, the Rams never let Shaw get closer than eight in the final minutes. Late free throws by Roaf sealed the win and extended WSSU’s remarkable unbeaten streak to 15 games.
