Jackson State standout Travis Terrell has committed to an FBS school after entering the transfer portal.
Terrell, who emerged as one of Jackson State’s more dynamic playmakers, committed to Big Ten Purdue, according to ESPN senior writer Adam Rittenberg.
He is expected to add skill-position depth while also factoring into the kicking game. Listed as a multi-purpose threat at the college level, he projects as the kind of flexible piece that head coach Ryan Walters and his staff can move around the formation.
This past season, Terrell had 607 rushing yards and six touchdowns on six yards per rush, helping the Tigers to a SWAC East championship.
At Jackson State, Terrell drew attention for his ability to contribute in a variety of situations, a trait that appealed to Purdue’s offensive vision and special teams needs.
Terrell is the latest ex-HBCU football player to commit to an FBS school. All-SWAC wideout Jalen Jones agreed to play at Texas Tech in recent days.
The commitment also underscores the growing pipeline from HBCU programs to Power Four schools, as players use increased exposure and agency representation to find FBS opportunities.
