An HBCU has spoken out regarding an NCAA investigation into gambling activities by former players.
Mississippi Valley State released a statement Friday afternoon regarding the ongoing investigation which includes two former Delta Devils men’s basketball players.

“Mississippi Valley State University acknowledges the recent NCAA Committee on Infractions report, which concluded an enforcement investigation into sports betting violations involving two former men’s basketball student-athletes who are no longer enrolled at the university,” the statement began.
“The university has cooperated fully with the NCAA’s investigation and is committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity in its athletics programs.”
A report surfaced in September naming several schools, including Mississippi Valley State and North Carolina A&T, had former or current players under investigation for illegal betting.
The NCAA focused on former MVSU players Donovan Sanders and Alvin Stredic, who said they were offered money to throw basketball games and provided information to third parties for “sports betting purposes.”
MVSU adds that they take the matter seriously and will continue to work with the NCAA to ensure all athletes comply with the governing body’s rules.
