MacKenzie Scott’s charitable ways continue to benefit HBCUs in historical fashion.
The wealthy philanthropist, who has donated billions to HBCUs, donated $38 million to Alabama State, university president Quinton T. Ross Jr. announced Monday.
The gift is the largest in Alabama State University history.
“Ms. Scott’s generosity affirms Alabama State University’s reputation as a catalyst for excellence and innovation in higher education,” Ross said in a statement.
Scott’s HBCU donations have increased in size and visibility as of late, with Morgan State receiving a $63 million gift and Maryland-Eastern Shore receiving a $38 million donation.
She also donated 70 million dollars to the United Negro College Fund in September.
