Mississippi Valley State football kicker Nina Schiks made program history by becoming the first woman ever to score for the Delta Devils.
Schiks — also the first female player in team history — went a perfect 4-for-4 on extra-point attempts during MVSU’s 49-0 homecoming victory over Division II Lincoln (California) last Saturday at Rice-Totten Stadium.
Her first point came after an 8-yard touchdown at the 10:36 mark of the third quarter, during which she successfully made all four of her kicks.
Schiks, a sophomore from the Netherlands, joined the football team in April after previously competing as a soccer player for Mississippi Valley State.

Head coach Terrell Buckley praised her historic performance, saying it was “pretty nice for Nina, great for the university, [and] great for college football” during his weekly SWAC media session on Monday.
He noted her rapid improvement and the team’s pride in her progress, calling her success “pure joy” to witness.
With this achievement, Schiks joins Jackson State’s Leilani Armenta as one of only two women ever to score for a Division I HBCU football team.
Armenta became the first in 2023 when she made three extra points for Jackson State in a game against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
