Shedeur Sanders reportedly did a good deed for students who attended his former HBCU alma mater.

Or did he?

A blog and social media post claim that the former Jackson State and Colorado quarterback had covered student loan debt for Jackson State students.

The claim originated from an article on the website GoodDay.feji.io, which asserted Sanders’ foundation covered over $500,000 in “outstanding student loan balances” for JSU graduates in 2023.

The post, titled “Shedeur Sanders Quietly Pays Off Student Loan Debt for Entire Jackson State Class of 2023,” lacked attribution to legitimate news sources or confirmation from Jackson State or the Sanders family.

A Cleveland Browns Fan Club Facebook post received hundreds of interactions, with fans lauding the reported gesture.

“Thank you. God bless you in all your endeavors,” wrote one commenter.

“He is a real one,” said another. “May God bless him immensely.”

Did Shedeur Sanders pay off student loan debt?

There is no verified evidence that the Cleveland Browns quarterback paid off the student loan debt for Jackson State University’s Class of 2023, despite the blog post circulating on social media claiming otherwise.

No credible media outlet — including ESPN, USA Today, The Clarion-Ledger, or HBCU-centered sports publications — has reported the story.

Searches across major outlets and Jackson State’s official communications show no record of such a donation either.

No Confirmation from Jackson State or Shedeur Sanders

A review of Shedeur Sanders’ verified social media accounts reveals no mention of a recent charitable initiative related to student loans. Jackson State University’s press releases and alumni communications also contain no statements validating the supposed $500,000 donation.

The absence of any record strongly indicates the viral claim is fabricated.

The story claiming Sanders paid off the Jackson State Class of 2023’s student loans is unfounded. It originated from an unverified, non-news blog and lacks confirmation or coverage from credible media outlets. While Sanders is known for genuine acts of mentorship and giving, this particular claim is false.

It is another instance of how misinformation on social media — if left unchecked — can spread and how so many people can easily be deceived.

If it’s too good to be true, then it probably is.
