During their current three-game winning streak, North Carolina Central is averaging nearly 54 points per game.
That average was helped by a 50-42 win at NCAA FCS newcomer East Texas A&M Saturday night, marking back-to-back weeks the Eagles have scored at least 50 points in a game.
Senior quarterback Walker Harris completed 21 of 32 passes for 288 yards and two passing touchdowns. He also ran 5 times for 45 yards and a score on the ground.
Central (4-2) overcame a game-opening 73-yard touchdown pass from Ron Peace to Tanner Harrison to take a 31-21 lead at the half.
Harris threw scoring passes to Chance Peterson (22 yards) and Chauncey Spikes (32 yards) while Chris Mosley and A.J. Rodgers each scored 3-yard rushing touchdowns.
Harris and Rodgers added second half rushing downs, while Kaleb Robison booted a 24-yard field goal and the North Carolina Central defense picked up a safety for the second straight week.
East Texas A&M added two late touchdowns to make the score close, but Central held on.
The Eagles will have next weekend off before a trip to Tallahassee, Florida to battle Florida A&M Oct. 11.
