Florida A&M’s dominance over Alabama State since joining the SWAC has been unquestioned.
The Rattlers have a perfect 4-0 record in the series since 2021. This year, however, the narrative looks poised for a shakeup as the two teams prepare for their Week 4 meeting at Bragg Memorial Stadium (2 p.m. CT, HBCU GO).
Alabama State has captured attention across the league, energized by its explosive offense under quarterback Andrew Body and an array of offensive playmakers. The Hornets will arrive in Tallahassee riding a two-game win streak and brimming with confidence, hoping to exploit a shaky Rattlers squad.
Despite being pegged as a preseason favorite to challenge for the SWAC East Division championship, Florida A&M has struggled to find its footing in 2025.
The Rattlers barely got past Division II Albany State two weeks ago and have yet to settle the quarterback competition, alternating between RJ Johnson III and Jett Peddy in their only win this season.
But Alabama State understands that to win the SWAC East, it must topple Florida A&M first.
“We know coach (James) Colzie will have his team ready—they’ve beaten us the last couple of years, and it’s been a while since we’ve beat them,” said head coach Eddie Robinson Jr. “We know our intensity has to be there if we’re going to get a win.”
