What Michael Vick said about Virginia Tech coaching job conversation

As a report surfaced about Michael Vick possibly being a name to watch in the Virginia Tech football coaching search, the Hokies’ most famed football alum says his focus is solely on his current job.

“My primary focus, until the end of time, is what we do here at Norfolk State,” Vick said during Monday’s MEAC Coaches’ Conference. “That’s all we can focus on right now. I hope our guys aren’t looking at any newspaper clippings or what’s happening on social media, because I don’t do it.”

Virginia Tech fired Brent Pry following a 45-26 loss at home to Old Dominion, which dropped the Hokies to 0-3 on the season.

FOX Sports sideline reporter and The Athletic College correspondent Bruce Feldman published a piece suggesting Virginia Tech could be interested in Vick as Pry’s replacement.

Vick, however, says his focus is on the Spartans’ game this week, a visit from FCS independent Sacred Heart.

“My job is to lead this team and have them follow my lead,” he said. “We’re already looking at game film, breaking things down and getting ready for this week’s game.”
