The Alabama A&M Bulldogs (1-1) visit Nashville to face the Tennessee State Tigers (1-1) in the inaugural game of the Legacy Series, held at Nissan Stadium on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. CT.

This neutral-site game marks the first of four scheduled meetings in this series through 2028.

Both teams come in with identical records after contrasting Week 2 performances. Alabama A&M is riding a momentum boost after a win against Alcorn State in the Louis Crews Classic, while Tennessee State is seeking to rebound from a blowout loss to No. 1 North Dakota State.

Historically, Tennessee State holds a commanding edge, leading the all-time series 21-8 and outscoring Alabama A&M 635-397 in that span.

The Tigers have dominated in blowout games but have struggled in tighter contests.

Recently, Alabama A&M has closed the gap with six wins in the last ten meetings. Tennessee State’s home turf, Nissan Stadium, has been a fortress, with notable victories, including a 42-7 triumph in 2004 and a high-attendance classic in 2005.

Who has the edge?

Alabama A&M Bulldogs:

  • Offense centered on electric QB Cornelious Brown IV, recently named SWAC Offensive Player of the Week.

  • Strong passing game balanced by effective rushing, demonstrated in their 41-31 victory over Alcorn State.

  • Defense will aim to contain Tennessee State’s dynamic backfield and passing attack.

Tennessee State Tigers:

  • Discipline on defense with multiple interceptions in recent games.

  • Balanced rushing offense averaging 134.5 yards per game.

  • Need to improve first downs and offensive consistency after being held to four first downs against North Dakota State.

Which players could decide the outcome?

  • Cornelious Brown IV (Alabama A&M QB): A dual-threat quarterback who can be effective with his arm or legs.

  • Byron Davis (Tennessee State DB): Has shown ball-hawking skills with interceptions, critical for creating turnovers and shifting momentum.

  • Tyson Edwards (Tennessee State WR): Leading receiver whose ability to stretch the field could open running lanes.

  • Alabama A&M Defensive Line: Their ability to pressure Tennessee State’s QB and stop the run will be vital.
