The hits keep coming for the Bethune-Cookman men’s basketball team, adding to an already strong offseason with a historic transfer portal acquisition.
Former five-star recruit Arterio Morris, a standout performer in the 2022 high school recruiting class, is heading to Daytona Beach to play for the Wildcats.
A McDonalds All-American for Kimball High School in Dallas, Texas, Morris committed to the University of Texas over offers from UCLA, Arkansas, and Oregon among others.
He registered 4.6 points per game in 38 games in his only season at Texas before entering the transfer portal.
Morris then committed to the University of Kansas after being involved in a felony rape case that was later dropped due to insufficient evidence.
The five-star guard then returned to his home state of Texas to play for South Plains College, a JUCO program that ranked second overall in the NJCAA the previous season.
Morris averaged 11.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.9 steals in 23 games, helping lead South Plains to a Region V Championship and advancing to the National Semifinals of the NJCAA Men’s Basketball tournament.
In addition to signing Morris, the Wildcats also re-signed Zion Harmon, a former four-star recruit that signed with BCU in 2022 before transferring to Seton Hall after two seasons.
Another key signing Bethune-Cookman has made this offseason is Arkansas-Pine Bluff transfer Doctor Bradley, who averaged 19.6 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 4.5 assists in 18 games last year.
