Michael Vick and DeSean Jackson are just over two weeks away from their respective coaching debuts at Norfolk State and Delaware State. Tuesday afternoon, the two former Philadelphia Eagles held court with local press following Eagles practice at the NovaCare Complex, discussing their Oct. 30 meeting at Lincoln Financial Field.

“The Linc already gets crazy,” Jackson said. “You’ve got two legends coaching. It’s going to be hype, I think there’s going to be a lot of conversations before the game, but during the game, there won’t be any talking. I know how he is and I know how I am.”

“We’re both competitors and we’re going to push our guys to the edge,” Vick said. “We don’t want to overlook our opponents but when we cross that bridge on the 30th of October, it’s going to be competitive. We’ve been in the huddle together, we came back in games together. ”

Jackson admitted that he didn’t expect to be a coach after his 15-year career as an NFL wide receiver and return specialist.

“All those years I played, I saw how much time the coaches spent in the buildings, after practice, meetings… that was scary to me,” he said. “I said ‘When I’m done with football, I don’t want to be anywhere in the building.’ Now that I’m in this seat, I was curious to see what kind of head coach I would be. I had to ask mentors and humble myself because we’ve never done this before.”

“This is an opportunity for us to put on display what we’ve learned over the last year,” Vick said. “You can expect to see us doing this for a long time.”
