In a landmark move, the LSU women’s basketball program unveiled its 2025-26 schedule that features matchups against four HBCU opponents.
Under head coach Kim Mulkey, the defending SEC champions will face Langston (exhibition), Alcorn State, Morgan State, and Alabama State as part of a robust non-conference slate ahead of conference play.
The Tigers will host all four teams at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge, with matchups in November and December.
Coach Mulkey highlighted the importance of these showdowns, stating, “Our commitment is to grow the game and honor college basketball’s rich legacy. Scheduling HBCU opponents provides invaluable experiences for both programs and our fans.”

Beyond competitive opportunities, the games also foster greater visibility for HBCU women’s basketball and drive meaningful conversations about equity in college sports.
The Lady Tigers’ schedule features a balance of tough road and conference contests, but including four HBCU opponents stands out as a historic benchmark.
It is one of the most extensive single-season commitments by a Power Four women’s basketball program to play HBCUs.
