Prairie View A&M is not there yet, but strides are being made in the first fall camp under Tremaine Jackson.

There was heightened energy during drills and team sessions in the latest practice, giving both players and coaches a sense of optimism despite being early in the preseason preparation.

Jackson, overseeing a significantly retooled roster, commented on the visible steps forward:

“We are starting to get some form of football shape and we had pads on,” Jackson said. “This team is brand new with 77 or so new guys, so things have to look a certain way by the standard that we have. And now they are starting to get a sneak peek of what those things should look like.”

Jackson emphasized that daily improvements are evident while the team hasn’t reached its ultimate goals. He added,

“We are certainly not there yet, but we are closer today than what we were when we first started and it’s been a little bit better.”

Chemistry and timing remain works in progress for the Panthers, given the large number of newcomers integrating into the program. However, signs of cohesion began to surface as the practice unfolded. Jackson highlighted this budding unity, saying,

“The guys are learning each other and the enthusiasm was better. I wouldn’t say we were great, but I would say we are getting better than day one.”

Jackson’s approach stresses building a team identity and raising expectations daily, particularly with such a substantial influx of new talent.

As fall camp continues, the Panthers aim to translate their growing energy and developing chemistry into on-field results that reflect the standards set by their new head coach.
