Taylor’s leadership is a focal point. He guides his players through rigorous drills and emphasizes the importance of teamwork and resilience.
The film captures the spirit of the “Guard Thee Yard” mantra, which has become more than just a slogan for the program—it represents a mindset of protecting the team’s legacy and building future leaders.
As the Tigers look to repeat their championship success, the documentary offers fans and newcomers alike an authentic glimpse into the preparation and passion that define Jackson State football.
“Why not go back-to-back?” said Taylor. “Let’s do something not a lot of people have done. ‘We’ve won back-to-back SWAC titles here, but how about winning back-to-back national titles?”
With the fall season approaching, Guard Thee Yard stands as a testament to the Tigers’ enduring commitment to excellence and the powerful sense of pride that unites the JSU community.
