One of the newer HBCU Classic football games is ready for Year Two.

The Frederick Douglass HBCU Classic, which debuted in 2024, has set a date for its second annual game and announced the participating teams.

Central State will return for its second Frederick Douglass Classic appearance. At the same time, SIAC foe Lane College will make its first appearance on Saturday, Sept. 27, at the Rochester Community Sports Complex in Rochester, New York.

Game time is set for 1 p.m. EST, and tickets are $25.

The Marauders played in the first game in 2024, losing to Albany State 28-7.

Both teams will enter the game with new head coaches as Central State turns to veteran NFL defensive back and college assistant Tony Carter. In contrast, longtime assistant coach and former Jackson State standout Stanley Conner will lead Lane.
