Prairie View A&M University is mourning the passing of Jackson Bailey, a standout member of the Panther football team and a cherished figure within the campus community.
School officials confirmed Bailey’s death in a statement released this week, highlighting his roles as both a Panthers football player and a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Zeta Beta Chapter.
Affectionately known as “Jacks,” Bailey was celebrated for his infectious spirit, keen football intelligence, and a lesser-known talent for playing the piano.

Friends and teammates recalled Bailey’s love of wings, his fondness for Christmas, and his devotion to family. He was known to live by the motto, “God got me.” Bailey aspired to play in the NFL or pursue a career as a physical therapist, according to the university.
At press time, no details regarding the cause of Bailey’s death had been released. The Prairie View A&M community continues to grieve the loss of a beloved Panther, remembering Bailey for the joy and inspiration he brought both on and off the field.
