Following the conclusion of its regular season, the United Football League (UFL) announced its All-League team, featuring a notable HBCU alum.
Former Tennessee State wide receiver and Deacon Jones trophy recipient Chris Rowland was named to the All-UFL team as both a receiver and return specialist.
Playing in all 10 games for the DC Defenders, Rowland finished second in the UFL in receiving yards (522) and third in total receptions (42), accounting for three touchdowns.
He also ranked in the top 10 in kick and punt returns, helping lead the Defenders to a 6-4 record and a playoff berth.
A standout wide receiver at Tennessee State, Rowland amassed 5,516 all-purpose yards and 17 total touchdowns in his college career.
In his final season in 2019, he became the only wide receiver to date to win the Deacon Jones trophy, awarded to the top player in black college football each year.
Rowland and the DC Defenders will play for a shot at a UFL championship this Saturday when they go on the road to face the St. Louis Battlehawks
