Alabama State claims prestigious SWAC Commissioner’s Cup for 2024-25 season

Alabama State reigns supreme as the SWAC’s top all-around athletics program.

Wednesday afternoon, ASU was announced as the conference’s annual winner of the James Frank Commissioner’s Cup, an award given to the school with the best performances in league-sponsored sports.

ASU compiled a total score of 163 points, winning the Sadie McGee/Barbara Jacket award for women’s sports with a 94.5 score and a 68.5 score on the men’s side.

The men’s award for highest finish, the C.D. Henry Award, goes to Jackson State for the second straight year. The Tigers’ men’s programs posted a league-high score of 72.

JSU finished second overall with a total of 147.5, Southern finished 3rd with 139.5, and Florida A&M and Texas Southern tied for fourth with 133 points each.
