Intrinsically, hitting a grand slam takes some luck.

You need three batters in front of you to all get on base without driving one another in, leaving one man to do the damage.

And that’s what Grambling State outfielder Trey Bridges did on Friday at Rickwood Field at the SWAC tournament.

Twice.

The first tater happened in the fourth inning against Southern when Bridges, hitting from the left side of the plate, smacked a heater over the right field wall to give the Tigers an 8-1 lead in a game they would eventually win 16-2.

Hours later, against Florida A&M, Bridges unloaded the bases with another long homer to right field in a Grambling 13-0 win over the Rattlers to push the Tigers into the SWAC tournament semifinals.

Bridges tallied five hits and 10 RBI for the day in a memorable performance.

A historic day at the plate, in a historic ballpark@TreyGup_ has 6 RBI’S, including a grand slam; in a must win game for @GramSt_Bsb !!

His energy & passion so contagious. He is a must know name, not only for the Tigers but across all of mid major baseball pic.twitter.com/Fxv1lM1dPT
