In a turn of events, All-SWAC wide receiver Nathan Rembert has announced he will remain with Jackson State.

The change of heart happened just days after he declared on social media his intention to enter the NCAA transfer portal.

Rembert, who transferred to Jackson State in January after a standout season at Mississippi Valley State, initially revealed over the weekend that he planned to leave the Tigers.

However, on Monday afternoon, he reversed course, posting on social media: “I will not be entering the transfer portal.”

The sophomore wideout’s change of heart follows a breakout 2023 campaign in which he recorded 70 catches for 1,038 yards and four touchdowns for the Delta Devils. His ability to deliver in clutch moments was on full display during Mississippi Valley State’s upset win over Florida A&M, where Rembert tallied seven receptions for 130 yards and a touchdown.

Nate Rembert’s statement on why he decided to stick at Jackson State:

“This is my home. THEE best HBCU in the land. I love the position Coach T.C Taylor and Coach Marshall have put me in to be successful this far.”

Before his time at Mississippi Valley State, Rembert excelled at Edward Waters University, earning All-SIAC First Team honors with 85 receptions for 730 yards and eight touchdowns.

Rembert’s return is a welcome development for head coach T.C. Taylor and the Tigers, who finished the 2024 season with a dominant 12-2 record, including an 8-0 sweep in SWAC play.

Jackson State capped its season with a commanding win over Southern University in the SWAC Championship and followed up with a wire-to-wire victory over South Carolina State in the Cricket Celebration Bowl.

With Rembert staying, Jackson State retains a dynamic weapon for an offense that averaged nearly 190 passing yards per game and had 27 total passing touchdowns last season. His presence strengthens the Tigers’ bid to repeat as HBCU National Champions.

As the Tigers look to reload and defend their crown, Rembert’s commitment sends a clear message: Jackson State remains a destination for top talent and a contender on the national stage.
