Michael Vick’s Norfolk State tenure has already brought a considerable number of eyes to the football program and the university.
And that amount will increase this coming fall, according to a report from Essence Magazine.
Black Entertainment Television, in conjunction with SMAC Entertainment, will produce a docuseries chronicling Vick’s journey back home to Norfolk in leading the Spartans football program.
“I know first-hand the power that HBCUs have on a community and the opportunity they give to so many student-athletes,” Michael Strahan, a Texas Southern alum and SMAC co-founder, said. “Michael Vick’s commitment to impacting these young men’s lives and passing along the gifts that football provided him is so inspiring. I’m excited for fans to join him on his journey with Norfolk State University.”

According to the report, the docuseries, part of BET’s #HBweCU initiative, “will trace Vick’s powerful evolution from electrifying quarterback to impactful leader—offering an intimate portrait of a man reclaiming purpose through mentorship, service, and second chances.”
Vick and his wife Kijafa stated, “We are excited to partner with BET to share the next chapter of our football journey and our lives, as we return home where it all started for us.”
Vick was hired last December following the departure of Dawson Odums after four seasons at the helm.
