The Golden Bears went 10-3 in 2024, winning the SIAC championship with a 53-25 victory over Clark Atlanta in the conference title game. Miles also won their first ever NCAA Division II playoff game, defeating Carson-Newman 14-13. After head coach Sam Shade moved on to Alabama A&M, Miles hired Chris Goode, who played his entire 7-year NFL career with the Indianapolis Colts.
Morgan State finished 2024 6-6 overall, 3-2 in MEAC play, their best record since their conference championship year of 2014. This will be the first ever meeting between the two teams and the first Circle City appearance for both.
