The Fayetteville State Lady Broncos kept up their winning ways with a dominant 81-31 win over the Winston-Salem State Lady Rams.
With the win, Fayetteville State improved to 16-7 overall, including an 11-3 record against CIAA opponents.
The Broncos are riding a four-game win streak coming by an average winning margin of 32.3 points per game.
Meanwhile, Winston-Salem State dropped to 7-17 with the loss, including a 3-11 conference record.
Talia Trotter led the Broncos, scoring a game-high 15 points, adding six rebounds and four steals. Keayna McLaughlin and Neveah Colon each scored 10 points, with the former also posting seven rebounds and three steals.
Morgan Graham put forth a strong defensive performance recording 10 rebounds, five blocks, and two steals.
Tolisha Walker came off the bench to lead the Rams with eight points and four rebounds.
Winston-Salem State began the game outscoring Fayetteville State 9-2 in the first 5:25. Fayetteville State ended the first quarter on a 13-3 run, taking a 15-12 lead into the second quarter.
The Broncos maintained their momentum for the remainder of the game, outscoring the Rams 66-19 over the final three quarters on their way to victory.
This included a second quarter in which Fayetteville State shut out Winston-Salem State 26-0. The Broncos bench contributed 15 of the team’s 26 points in the period, and 14 of the team’s second-quarter points came off turnovers.
With two games remaining in the regular season, Fayetteville State is now half a game behind Virginia State (11-2) for the best conference record in the CIAA.
