Michael Vick continues to round out his Norfolk State coaching staff with knowledge and experience.
His most recent hire is a well-known player and coach in the HBCU community.
Tory Woodbury, who coached tight ends and coordinated special teams for Howard last season, will join Vick in Norfolk as the special teams’ coordinator, according to a report from Football Scoop.
Woodbury had an outstanding career as Winston-Salem State’s quarterback from 1998 to 2001, passing for over 4,000 yards, throwing 40 touchdown passes and rushing for 20, helping the Rams win the CIAA championship in 2000.
After a professional career that saw him play for the New York Jets and in the Arena Football League and NFL Europe, Woodbury began his career coaching running backs at Delaware State.
He also served as offensive coordinator at Johnson C. Smith before joining the Los Angeles Rams staff as a college scout and assistant special teams coach. He has a championship ring from the Rams’ Super Bowl LVI winning team. Woodbury coached special teams for St. Louis and Houston in the UFL before joining Howard this past season.
