The NBA world is mourinng the loss of Chicago Bulls legend and Southern University alum Bob Love, who died on Monday after a long battle with cancer.
He was 81.
“Bob was a true legend and a beloved member of our family. During his nine remarkable seasons with the Bulls. Bob was a three-time NBA All-Star, a tenacious defender, and a cornerstone of our team,” the Chicago Bulls said in a statement.
“With his No. 10 jersey hanging in the United Center rafters, his on-court achievements are forever etched in history, but Bob’s impact transcended basketball.”
While at Southern, Love averaged 12.8 points as a freshman, 22.6 as a sophomore, 25.6 as a junior (and 18 rebounds a game), and 30.6 as a senior (and 18.2 rebounds a game), which scoring average led the Southwestern Athletic Conference that year.
He was a three-time NAIA All-American. He was also a three-time All Southwestern Conference selection. Southern University retired his No. 41 jersey in 2012.
