The MEAC and SWAC leaders are joined by another HBCU in this week’s American Football Coaches Association’s FCS top 25 poll.

Tennessee State, following a 23-20 win over Gardner-Webb breaks into the top 25 for the first time this season, right at the 25th spot in the rankings.

South Carolina State, who clinched the MEAC championship with a resounding 54-7 win over Morgan State Saturday, moved up from No. 23 to a tie for 21st with Ivy League leader Harvard.

SWAC East champion Jackson State, who earned that crown with a 16-10 win at Alabama State, moves up from No. 20 to No. 17.

Each team will be in action this weekend as Tennessee State looks to make a case for the FCS playoffs with a win over Big South-OVC leader Southeast Missouri, while Jackson State travels to Lorman, Mississippi to face Alcorn State in the Soul Bowl. South Carolina State ends their regular season and MEAC schedule with a Senior Day visit from Norfolk State.
