Howard senior guard Bryce Harris was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference men’s Basketball Preseason Player of the Year.

Howard was selected as the preseason favorite to win the MEAC.

All awards were voted on by the conference’s head coaches and sports information directors.

Harris, a first-team All-MEAC honoree, led the Bison to their second MEAC Tournament title in as many years. A six-time defensive player of the week, Harris led the conference in field goal percentage (.547) and ranked second in scoring (16.6 ppg) and rebounding (7.5 rpg). He breached the 20-point mark 11 times throughout the season with a high of 28 points in the opening round of the MEAC Basketball Tournament against Morgan State. Harris scored in double 31 times in 35 games with eight double-double performances.

Defending MEAC champion Howard received 12 first-place votes to be named the preseason favorite, while the Spartans of Norfolk State were picked to finish second, receiving three first-place votes. North Carolina Central and Morgan State were picked to finish third and fourth, respectively.

South Carolina State and Delaware State tied for fifth, with Maryland Eastern Shore and Coppin State rounding out the predicted order of finish.

Joining Harris on the Preseason All-MEAC First Team are Delaware State’s Martaz Robinson, Morgan State’s Wynston Tabbs and Will Thomas, and Po’Boigh King from North Carolina Central.

The 2025 MEAC Basketball Tournament will be held March 12-15 at the Norfolk Scope Arena in Norfolk, Va.
