Bethune-Cookman will be represented in Paris for this year’s Summer Olympics as one of its former athletes has qualified for Canada’s track and field team.

Former Wildcat Sade McCreath-Tardiel has been selected to run as a member of Canada’s 4×100 relay team. This will be her first career Olympic berth.

McCreath-Tardiel helped lead Canada to a season-best 42.98 time at the World Athletic Relays, finishing second in their heat and officially qualifying for the Olympics.

Canada is looking to make its first 4×100 relay final since the 2016 Olympics and its first medal in the event since 1984.

The former Bethune-Cookman sprinter is one of two former HBCU athletes who have been confirmed to have qualified to compete in the Olympics this year.

Johnson C. Smith hurdler Danielle Williams punched her ticket to Paris, qualifying for the 100m hurdles representing Jamaica.
