Former Johnson C. Smith hurdler Danielle Williams punched her ticket to Paris for her first-ever Summer Olympics after her performance in the Jamaican Olympic Trials.

She finished second in the 100m hurdle finals, running a 12.53 behind Ackera Nugent, who set a Jamaican national record.

This is the second Olympics in a row to feature a CIAA athlete after former Livingstone athlete Quanera Hayes qualified for the US team in the 2020 Olympic Games.

Williams is the reigning 100m hurdles world champion, having won for a second time at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest.

The former Golden Bull is looking to become the first athlete to win an Olympic medal in the women’s 100m hurdles one year after winning a World Championship in the event since Australian athlete Sally Pearson did so in 2012.
