Alabama State sprinter Jamarion Stubbs moved one step closer to punching his ticket to Paris after qualifying for the finals of the 200m dash at the U.S. Olympic trials.

Stubbs ran a time of 20.31 seconds, finishing fourth in the second heat and narrowly nabbing the last spot in the finals.

This is the second 200m final Stubbs will run in a month, having also qualified for the NCAA Division I Track & Field Championships, where he finished seventh with a 20.59 seconds.

Jamarion Stubbs advances to the finals of the 200-meter dash and has the opportunity to represent Team USA!

Stubbs finished third in heat 2 with a time of 20.31.

The Hornets’ sprinter is one of two athletes who ran in the NCAA 200m final and also qualified for the final at the Olympic Trials along with Florida’s Robert Gregory.

Stubbs will now set his sights on qualifying for the Olympic team. He needs to finish in the final three to secure a trip to Paris.

He will need to improve on his personal best time of 19.95, which would have been the fourth-best among the Olympic trials’ semifinal times.
