In just two years as Mississippi Valley State athletic director, Hakim McClellan has overseen positive changes in the Delta Devils sports programs.
Those changes will be left up to someone new to build on, as McClellan announced on Monday that his final day on campus will be June 30. As reported by Delta Sports, he will transition to Jackson State for a position as deputy athletic director.

“It was just time to make a move for the family, for the overall landscape of things,” McClellan said at the Delta Devils new logo unveiling and Field Turf groundbreaking ceremony
McClellan, an MVSU graduate, admitted that the decision was indeed a tough one.
“It’s very difficult,” he said. “I came here in 2005, I met my wife here. This is home for me, always will be home for me, and I love this institution with all of my heart.”
McClellan has served in various athletic capacities across the Southwestern Athletic Conference, including Associate Athletic Director for Compliance at Jackson State before becoming the Mississippi Valley State athletic director, as well as Academic Advisor for Prairie View’s baseball, women’s basketball, women’s soccer and track and field teams.
