A pair of the top HBCU sluggers will have the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of professional scouts among the nation’s top college and high school baseball players.

Grambling State infielders Cameron Bufford and Kyle Walker were two of 300 draft-eligible players invited to the 2024 MLB Draft Combine.

Bufford was a catalyst in leading Grambling to a SWAC championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament during a historic season for the senior. He set the program career home run record with 45, a feat he achieved on March 2 against Florida A&M. Bufford ended the regular season with a .349 batting average, 56 RBI, and an OPS of 1.016.

Walker, a second baseman from New Orleans, hit .394 with 11 home runs and 41 RBI.

Bufford and Walker will be able to participate in a series of medical and performance assessments and educational programming designed to prepare them for careers in professional baseball.

All players will have the opportunity to participate in a pro-style showcase workout and strength and performance assessments.

The draft combine will take place from June 18 to 23. For a second consecutive year, it will be hosted at Chase Field in Phoenix, home of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

As part of the Combine experience, attendees will benefit from the opportunity to interview and interact directly with Major League Club general managers and scouting directors and from an enhanced medical evaluation process.

Participants at the MLB Draft Combine will have opportunities to be featured on MLB social media channels. They will also receive personal branding training and access to real-time content and custom video for their own platforms.

MLB Network will have exclusive coverage live from Chase Field on Tuesday, June 18, beginning at 1 p.m. ET
