Jackson State did not wait long to begin the search to replace Tomekia Reed as women’s basketball coach.
According to a social media post by The 1400 Klub Podcast, the search is complete, and the new head coach will be announced on Monday, May 6
Reed, who coached the Lady Tigers to three Southwestern Athletic Conference championships and three NCAA tournament appearances in her six seasons in charge, was introduced as the new women’s coach at UNC Charlotte of the American Athletic Conference.
Under Reed’s leadership, JSU ranked high in several statistical categories in the NCAA – rebounding, assists, fewest turnovers committed and rebounding margin.
Two players were drafted into the WNBA during her tenure: Amesyha Williams-Holliday in 2022 and Angel Jackson, the SWAC defensive player of the year, who is currently in training camp with the Las Vegas Aces.
