The regular season has concluded for men’s and women’s basketball in the CIAA, which means we now know the layout heading into the CIAA tournament.

Entering as the No. 1 seeds in the women’s bracket are Elizabeth City State and Fayetteville State. Meanwhile, Lincoln (PA) and Fayetteville State will occupy the top seeds in the men’s brackets.

Elizabeth City State, the defending women’s conference champion, is looking to become the first CIAA South team to win consecutive titles since Shaw won four straight from 2011-2014.

They will begin their tournament run on Wednesday, awaiting the winner of the opening-round matchup between St. Augustine’s and Lincoln (PA).

Fayetteville State, occupying No.1 seeds on both sides, is looking to become the first team to sweep conference titles in each bracket since Virginia Union in 2018.

The Broncos’ women will tip off in the tournament on Wednesday when they play the winner of Bluefield State and Livingstone. Meanwhile, the Broncos’ men will face the winner of Bowie State and Livingstone.

Rounding out the number-one seeds, Lincoln (PA)’s men will start its tournament run on Wednesday to face the winner of Shaw and Elizabeth City State.

Defending men’s conference champion Winston-Salem State will enter the tournament as the third seed. They will also open their tournament run on Wednesday to play the winner of Monday’s opening-round matchup between St. Augustine’s and Bluefield State.
