The Jackson State women’s basketball team have added yet another top SWAC player from the transfer portal.
Mississippi Valley State guard Zakiya Mahoney joins the Tigers with one year of eligibility remaining.
“They thought I was gon fall off, I hate to bring you bad news,” said Mahoney in a Twitter post announcing the move.
Mahoney is the second SWAC player to transfer to Jackson State in the past month. Texas Southern All-SWAC guard Adriana Avent joined the Tigers recently.

Coming to Mississippi Valley State from Chabot College, Mahoney went on to play three seasons with the Valley Vipers.
She tallied 13.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.3 steals in 50 games with the team.
This past season, the former Valley Viper guard played in just eight games last playing in a matchup against the University of New Orleans on Dec. 14.
Mahoney joins a Jackson State squad that has won each of the last four SWAC regular season championships.
