After announcing his intention to enter the transfer portal earlier this month, Florida A&M defensive lineman Kamari Stephens has had a change of heart.
The All-SWAC defensive lineman will remain a Rattler with two years of eligibility remaining.
Stephens announced his return in a two-minute social media video captioned, “The difference between possible and impossible lies in a person’s determination.”
In the video, he meets with Florida A&M head coach Willie Simmons, telling him that although he entered the transfer portal, it’s best if he remains a Rattler and “once a Rattler always a Rattler.”

Stephens’ offseason is similar to Isaiah Land, who entered the transfer portal during the 2022 offseason only to later announce he was returning to Florida A&M.
Like Land, Stephens also received numerous offers from FBS programs, including UNLV, Buffalo, Liberty, and Jacksonville State.
The star lineman filled up the stat sheet in the 2022 season, finishing with 20 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, four forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and an interception.
Stephens was later named to the All-SWAC First Team. This makes him one of three All-SWAC selections returning for the Rattler defense in the 2023 season, along with Isaiah Major and Javan Morgan.
