The NCAA transfer portal continues to produce an almost endless stream of activity, with athletes moving to and from HBCU programs across divisions around the country in 2023.
Black college football programs have been the beneficiaries of FBS players looking to find spots — and immediate opportunities — on HBCU rosters.
So far, SWAC schools have led the way among HBCUs acquiring FBS transfers during the offseason.
Jackson State, the two-time SWAC champion, has paced Black college football with 14 FBS transfers. Alabama A&M and Florida A&M are next, with 12 each. Grambling State, under second-year head coach Hue Jackson, has seven players on the roster that have come over from the FBS level.
