Jackson State running back Sy’Veon Wilkerson has announced he is entering the transfer portal after speculation about his status with the team.
Wilkerson played one season with the Tigers after previously transferring from Delaware State.
He finished the 2022 season with 1,152 rushing yards (second in SWAC) and nine rushing touchdowns in a season where he was named to the All-SWAC first team.

The star running back was the source of speculation when head coach T.C. Taylor explained that Wilkerson was not currently with the team during spring practice.
“Sy’Veon is trying to figure some things out right now,” Taylor said last week in response to Wilkerson’s status. “He’s a part of this football team until he tells us he is not.”
This announcement comes two days after Tigers wide receiver Willie Gaines declared his intentions to enter the transfer portal.
