A month after announcing he was entering the transfer portal, Bowie State Bulldogs defensive back Raymond Boone has provided the update that he is staying put.

He received offers from Southern, Alabama A&M, Jackson State, and Eastern Kentucky.

In his commitment video, it appeared that the Bulldogs defensive back chose Jackson State. That is until a shot of the video showed the Bowie State football field with the caption “Home Sweet Home.”

Boone was highly recruited coming out of high school in the class of 2018 as he was ranked a three-star recruit by ESPN. He received offers from Pitt, Syracuse, Virginia Tech and Kentucky before committing to Maryland.

After just one season at Maryland, Boone made his way to Bowie State in 2019 as a redshirt freshman.

In his first season with the team, the former Terp recorded 21 total tackles and nine passes defended including three interceptions. He also played some special teams returning eight kickoffs for 164 total yards.

This past year, Boone played a much more prominent role for the Bulldogs defense. He finished with 58 tackles, five interceptions and a blocked punt.  As a result, he was named to the All-CIAA Second Team.

Boone was one of many members of the Bowie State Bulldogs 2021 CIAA championship team that entered the transfer portal in the offseason.

Two Bulldogs that entered the transfer portal have now moved up to the FBS (Jonathan Ross, South Florida; Joseph Murray, Marshall).

In addition, fellow defensive backs Jordan Carter and Demetri Morsell each transferred to the SWAC to play for Southern.
