TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama State dropped an 8-0 contest against in-state opponent Troy in their second game of the Tuscaloosa Regionals on Saturday afternoon.
Pitchers dominated the first half of the game on both sides, as both teams were held scoreless for the first three innings of the game.
Troy broke the tie in the bottom of the fourth after a base hit to left with two runners in scoring position to gain a 1-0 lead. Later in the inning, the Trojans added to their lead after an RBI double to drive in two more runs followed by an RBI triple on the next at-bat to go up 4-0. Troy scored their fifth run on a passed ball before the close of the inning.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Trojans got on the board again with a RBI single to bring in two scores and closed the game out with a groundout that brought home the final run.
Madison Myers led the Hornets from the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 on the day. Sullivan (18-11) suffered the loss in the circle, working 5.0 innings and surrendered five runs and seven hits, while Vanessa Bradford came in for relief in the sixth to close out the game.
