Texas Southern head coach Clarence McKinney and staff has secured 16 signatures to open the first day of the early signing period.

McKinney and staff put an emphasis on both the offensive and defensive lines as TSU hauled in five defensive linemen and four offensive linemen. Overall, the Tigers signed eight offensive players and eight defenders with 11 student-athletes from across the state of Texas, four from the neighboring state of Louisiana and another from Missouri.

In addition, the TSU coaching staff sought players with a passion for winning as six signees are currently participating in their state’s respective playoff championships while several have won state titles at some point throughout their careers or advanced deep into the playoffs.

Named as one of the top players in San Antonio by KSAT.com…chosen to participate in the San Antonio Sports All-Star Football Game on Jan. 30, 2021…earned 13-5A Division I First Team honors as a junior with 100+ tackles and 10 sacks…also selected to play in the 2021 Hawaii Tiki Bowl…played his final season in Class 6A as the school moved up a classification.

Recorded 54 tackles, three interceptions and three pass breakups his senior season…played both wide receiver and defensive back in high school…helped guide team to the 2020 TAPPS Division 1 State Semifinals…played at Irving High School as a junior.
