Jackson State is expected to name its next head football coach this morning.
HBCU Sports previously reported that the school is set to hire Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders.
“The Jackson State division of athletics has an important announcement about the status of its football program,” a news release indicated.
Sanders, who does not possess experience as a head coach at any level, moves into a role most recently held by John Hendrick before he was relieved of his duties on Aug. 31 less than two seasons at the helm.
Sanders, 56, was an offensive coordinator at Trinity Christian in Cedar Hill, Texas where his son, Shedeur, is the starting quarterback.
