Dover, Del. — Former Delaware State standout and National Football League veteran defensive lineman Rodney Gunter has taken his talents to his home state of Florida.
Gunter, after five seasons with the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals, recently signed a free-agent contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
A native of Lake Hamilton, Fla., Gunter played four seasons with the Hornets (2011-14) before being selected by the Cardinals in the fourth round (116th overall pick) of the 2015 NFL draft, the third-highest pick of a DSU player in the history of the draft.
In his five seasons with Arizona, he recorded 126 tackles, including 11 sacks, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in 79 games).
A two-time All-MEAC selection, Gunter played in 45 games with the Hornets, tallying 187 total tackles (96 solo), 38 tackles-for-loss and 16 sacks.
