NORFOLK, Va., – South Carolina State wide receiver De’Montrez Burroughs has been named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced today. Morgan State’s Ian McBorrough is the Defensive Player of the Week and South Carolina State freshmen Corey Fields has been selected as Rookie of the Week. Earning Offensive Lineman of the Week honors is South Carolina State’s Alex Taylor and picking up Specialist of the Week honors is the Bulldogs’ Cliff Benjamin, Jr.
Burroughs (WR, 6-2, 218, Sr., Charlotte, N.C.) had seven catches for 140 yards and set a school record for touchdowns catches in a game with five in the win over Howard.
McBorrough (LB, 6-2, 230, Sr., Essex, Md.) held No. 14 North Carolina A&T State below its league-leading 34.5 points-per-game average to just 16 points. He led the Bears with 12 tackles (11 solo) to go along with 2.5 tackles for a loss as the Bears posted their second straight upset of a ranked Aggies team.
Fields (QB, 6-0, 188, r-Fr., Hollywood, S.C.) had a career day, completing 18 of 29 passes for 333 yards and a program-record seven touchdowns. Fields tied Florida A&M’s Pat Bonner for second in MEAC history with seven touchdown passes in a single game.
Taylor (OL, 6-9, 310, r-Sr., Moncks Corner, S.C.) graded out at 98 percent and helped the Bulldogs accumulate 462 yards of offense (115 rushing and 347 passing) against Howard. He spearheaded an offensive line that allowed Fields to set a school record for touchdown passes with seven. He had four pancake blocks and didn’t yield any sacks.
Benjamin (P, 6-1, 190, Gr., Holly Hill, S.C.) registered three punts for 132 yards for an average of 44 yards with a long of 51 yards and three kicks inside the 20.

Tydarius Peters (B-CU) had seven tackles and had an interception returned for a 25-yard touchdown against Delaware State.
Thomas Bertrand-Hudon (DSU) rushed for a career-high 133 yards and a touchdown while tied a school record with 36 carries in the win over Bethune-Cookman.
Kamari Jackson (DSU) had 11 tackles, including two tackles for a loss of eight yards and one sack.
Manasseh Bailey (MSU) had seven catches for 118 yards and a touchdown.
Davius Richard (NCCU) achieved the sixth-best passing performance in school history, amassing 384 passing yards with three touchdowns, completing 30 of 46 passes.
Juwan Carter (NSU) accounted for three touchdowns, two passing, to lead NSU to a road win at NC Central. He was 16-for-26 with 249 yards passing and seven yards rushing and a touchdown.
De’Shaan Dixon (NSU) finished the game with five tackles with 3.0 tackles for a loss of 11 yards and two sacks and recovered a fumble for a five-yard touchdown run.
