PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas — For the second week in a row Jackson State won a thrilling overtime finish.

Last week it was one overtime.

Thursday night it was two overtimes.

CJ Anderson blocked Prairie View A&M’s 27-yard field goal attempt to tie the game and the Tigers defeated the Panthers 38-35.

JSU improves to 3-5 and 2-1 in the SWAC, while PVAMU falls to 3-5 and 2-3 in the conference.

After four quarters of play, the matchup was tied at 28-28.

PVAMU opened the first OT with a touchdown and JSU responded.

Facing a fourth down and one from the PVAMU five-yard line, Keshawn Harper picked up the bobbled shotgun snap and facing a fierce Panther pass rush threw a pass to DD Bowie at the one-yard line and he walked in the end zone for the touchdown.

The Tigers used a punishing running attack to control the game.

Harper rushed for 105 yards and scored two touchdowns and Kymani Clarke, who was tabbed last week’s SWAC Newcomer of the Week, ran for 75 yards.

Bowie hauled in five receptions for 75 yards and one touchdown, while Daniel Crowell came through with four grabs for 46 yards and one touchdown.

Derrick Ponder went 17-of-29 for 199 yards and one touchdown and an interception.

Jalon Jones added 24 yards rushing with a long rush of 16 yards.

Keonte Hampton finished with a team-high 11 tackles, nine of which were solo stops. Khalil Arrington added eight tackles and Kahlil Johnson finished with seven stops and one sack.

Jashon Baker added an interception to go with four tackles and a pass breakup.

Adrian Salazar converted four-of-four field goals (39, 44. 31 and 20 yards).

The Tigers return to the gridiron on November 2 and host Arkansas-Pine Bluff in an important SWAC game.
