NORFOLK, Va. – Bethune-Cookman quarterback Akevious Williams was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Football Offensive of the Week, the conference announced today. North Carolina A&T State’s Jermaine McDaniel was selected as Defensive of the Week and South Carolina State freshman B.J. Davis was selected as Rookie of the Week. Earning Offensive Linemen of the Week honors was South Carolina State’s Alex Taylor and picking up Specialist of the Week honors was North Carolina A&T State’s Noel Ruiz.
Williams (QB, 6-2, 188, Sr., Madison County, Fla.) was named Offensive MVP of the MEAC/SWAC Challenge after he led the Wildcats to a 36-15 win over Jackson State. Williams completed 16 of 29 passes with 144 yards passing with a touchdown. He also rushed for 53 yards on 11 carries and scored a touchdown. Bethune-Cookman score all 36 points in the second half, with 22 coming in the third quarter alone.
McDaniel (DE, 6-3, 235, r-So., Dillon, S.C.) disrupted Elon’s offense all night, assisting in the Aggies holding the Phoenix to just 19 yards rushing for the game. His three sacks are the most by an Aggie in a single game in over two seasons. He finished with eight total tackles (four solo), three tackles for a loss of 27 yards, as North Carolina A&T State held on last to defeat No. 21 Elon 24-21.
Davis (LB, 6-2, 189, r-Fr., Blair, S.C.) led the Bulldogs defense with eight total tackles, including four tackles for a loss of 17 yards, an interception, one pass breakup and a quarterback hurry for South Carolina State in a 28-13 win over No. 9 Wofford. The Bulldogs defense had four interceptions and nine tackles for a loss of 32 yards.
Taylor (OL, 6-9, 310, Sr., Moncks Corner, S.C.) graded out at a 93 percent for the Bulldogs on Saturday against No. 9 Wofford. Taylor didn’t yield any sacks and had four pancake blocks while helping South Carolina State accumulate 276 yards of total offense and score 28 points.
Ruiz (PK, 5-11, 287, Jr., Wilson, N.C.) kicked a school-record 52-yard field goal as time expired in the game to give the Aggies a 24-21 win over No. 21 Elon. Ruiz’s game winner for the first game winning field goal in 15 years for North Carolina A&T State.

Devuntry Hampton (B-CU) had four tackles and an interception for the Wildcats in the MEAC/SWAC Challenge.
Tylik Bethea (DSU) came off the bench and completed 10 of 18 passes for 137 yards and one touchdown.
Jahad Neibauer (DSU) totaled 11 tackles with nine being solo tackles and two tackles for a loss of four yards for the Hornets against Delaware.
Elijah Bell (NCAT) broke the Aggies’ career touchdown receptions record (26) with a one-handed grab in the back of corner of the end zone against No. 21 Elon.
DaKendall James (NSU) caught five passes for 101 yards in his Spartans debut, scoring on a 57-yard touchdown reception and also catching a two-point conversion.
