BALTIMORE, Md. — Morgan State’s 2019 football schedule has been announced and it features five home games in W.A.C. Hughes Memorial Stadium, including a home opener matchup against Delaware State.

Coming off a 4-7 season (3-4 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) in 2018, Morgan State will open its 2019 campaign with three consecutive nonconference road matchups. The Bears kickoff the season with an FBS matchup at Bowling Green on Aug. 29. It will mark just the second meeting between the teams. The Falcons won the first matchup in 2011.

After a Week 2 bye, the Bears will travel to face FCS power James Madison, ranked No. 2 in the Athlon Sports FCS Preseason Top 25, on Sept. 14. JMU captured a win in their first and only matchup in 1995.

The Bears will head north to challenge Army on Sept. 21 in West Point, New York. It will mark the third meeting between the teams since 2013, with Army posting a victory at Michie Stadium in 2016.

The Bears will open the MEAC slate of the schedule when they play host to North Carolina Central on Sept. 28. Morgan State will look to avenge its 21-17 homecoming loss to the Eagles in 2016.

MSU will travel to Bethune-Cookman on Oct. 5 for the Wildcats’ first home conference matchup.

The Bears will take on Delaware State for Homecoming on Oct. 12, followed by a trip to Orangeburg to square-off with South Carolina State on Oct. 19 for the Bulldogs’ homecoming celebration.

The Bears return home to entertain Florida A&M on Oct. 26, followed by a road trip to Norfolk State on Nov. 2.

Morgan State will entertain the reigning MEAC champion Aggies of North Carolina A&T on Nov. 9 for ‘Senior Day’ in Hughes Stadium. The Bears shocked the league by recording a 16-13 victory against the Aggies in Greensboro last year.

Next, the Bears will step out of conference for their final home game of the season to host the Dragons of Virginia University of Lynchburg on Nov. 16.

Morgan State concludes its 2019 regular season when Howard hosts the Bears in Greene Stadium on Nov. 23.

The Bears open the 2019 campaign under Tyrone Wheatley set to enter his first year at the helm as Morgan State’s head coach.

Morgan State opens preseason practice on Monday, July 29.
